I don’t usually write about individual card welcome offers, since they change all the time, but this offer is so good, it merits a public service announcement. The Chase Sapphire Preferred currently comes with a jaw-dropping 100,000 Ultimate Reward points for spending $5,000 in three months. We haven’t seen an offer this high on this card since 2021.
Here’s what 100,000 Chase points can get you:
- $1,000 cash, if you cash out points at $.01 per point.
- About $1,100 in airfare if you transfer points to Southwest or JetBlue.
- $1,250 in travel if you redeem your points through the Chase travel portal
- About $1,300 in airfare if you transfer your points to United
- About $2,000 in hotel stays if you transfer your points to Hyatt (this is my preferred use; the picture on this post is from Miraval Austin, where I booked a $2,700 stay for $0 out of pocket)
- Or even more if you transfer your points to book business class international flights through programs like Virgin Atlantic or Air France/KLM Flying Blue.
This is a great value for a card with a $95 annual fee. Even folks who aren’t in the points and miles game can book themselves one solid trip with this welcome bonus. The Sapphire Preferred also comes with travel insurance and primary insurance for rental cars, which makes it an excellent long-term keeper card for frequent travelers.
To be eligible for this compelling offer, you must:
- Not currently hold a Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve card
- Not have received a welcome bonus on a Sapphire card in the last 48 months
- Have opened fewer than five personal credit cards in the last 24 months
You can still be eligible for this offer if you:
- Have held a Sapphire card in the past
- Are an authorized user on someone else’s Sapphire card
If you are eligible for this card, and you might take a flight or stay in a hotel at some point in the next 18 months, then I recommend you jump on this offer. Please consider using my referral link to apply; it doesn’t cost you anything and it supports my work here at the blog.
How would you use 100,000 Chase points? Let me know in the comments!
